Vehicle Pursuit (Greenview)

07/18/2012

During the early morning hours of July 18, 2012, while on patrol in the Greenview area of Camden County, a deputy noticed a vehicle sitting in the parking lot of a closed business. When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated out of the parking area with no headlights. The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled north on Highway 7 and then onto State Route EE. The deputy noted the vehicle driving erratically on State Route EE. The driver turned around on State Route EE and headed back towards Highway 7. An additional deputy was in the area and deployed a spike system in order to deflate the fleeing vehicle’s tires. The driver struck the spike strip and continued a short distance on Highway 7 before exiting the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot. Deputies gave chase and apprehended the suspect.

The driver is currently being held at the Camden County Adult Detention Facility pending formal charges.
