The accident occurred on July 31, 2012, at approximately 2:30 pm on State Route BB near the intersection of Garman Hollow Road.

David James Hammer was south bound on BB operating a Suzuki Quad runner when he lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned in the roadway ejecting Hammer.

Hammer was flown from the scene to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
