Two Columbia Women Caught in Response to Burglary Call

07/07/2016

Just before midnight on Tuesday, July 5th, deputies responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Scarsdale Circle in Four Seasons for a reported burglary in progress. According to the 911 caller, two females with flashlights were seen breaking into the apartment. The caller knew the rightful resident of the apartment was not present and called 911 immediately.

When deputies arrived on scene they discovered the two women, later identified as 45 year old Kimberly A Hoffman and 20 year old Christine E Nowlin, both of Columbia, inside the apartment.

The door to the apartment had been broken into by slipping the lock and deputies recovered a nail file apparently used to try to slip the lock and a hard plastic card from the floor just inside the door. It was apparent the card was successful in slipping the lock.

Deputies took both women into custody and recovered methamphetamine, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia. Both women were transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility where they were each charged with the Class C Felony of 2nd Degree Burglary and the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Nowlin was additionally charged with the Class A Misdemeanor of Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia.

Hoffman and Nowlin are both being held on a $10,000.00 surety bond and will appear before the court on August 9th.
