Child Safety Seat Enforcement

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office announces our upcoming Child Passenger Safety Week Campaign. From September 18th to the 24th, we are joining with law enforcement agencies across the state to conduct an aggressive crackdown on child safety seat violators. The goal of this campaign is to reduce the number of roadway fatalities and injuries to children.

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one killer of children and nearly 73% of all child restraints are not used correctly. During the last three years more than thirty children under the age of nine died on Missouri roadways and more than 250 were seriously injured. To prevent these tragic numbers from growing Missouri law requires all children under the age of eight to be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat unless they are at least 80 pounds or are 4’9” tall.

“Regular and correct child safety seat and safety belt use is the single most effective way to protect yourself and your children from injury or even death in the event of a motor vehicle accident. Are you keeping your children safe?” – Sergeant Scott Hines
